Church building

There are four church buildings in Diedorf:

  • Catholic Church of St. Bartholomew : built in 1736 in place of an earlier church; the basement of the old church tower comes from the previous building from the late Romanesque period. On the upper floor of the tower there are remains of medieval frescoes. Until 1967 St. Bartholomäus was the parish church, today it is a popular wedding church.

  • Catholic Church of the Heart of Mary : built according to the plans of the Mindelheim architect Josef Ruf and inaugurated in 1967. The floor plan of the church building corresponds to a curved circular arc that is modeled on the human heart. The tower, which tapers to the top, is 76 m high and can be seen from afar. It is one of the most striking buildings in the market town of Diedorf.
  • Catholic chapel of St. Leonhard and Wolfgang : built in 1766; is right next to today's B 300. The building is attributed to the Augsburg court architect Ignaz Paulus. The frescoes inside were created by Fridolin Kohler, the painting St. Wolfgang u. St. Leonhard with the Mother of God is a work by Franz Joseph Maucher.
  • Evangelical Lutheran Immanuel Church : consecrated on December 4, 2005. Built in the modern style as a transparent round building with lots of glass surfaces. The church is located in the immediate vicinity of the Eukitea Theater on Lindenstrasse.

Also worth seeing is the so-called Lourdes grotto at the Bürgerpark. It is a foundation of the Kraus family from Diedorf and was inaugurated in 1908.

Today, the two-track Diedorf (Schwab) stop is served by the Fugger Express , which runs every hour as a regional express from Ulm to Munich and as a regional train from Dinkelscherben to Munich, so that there is a half-hourly service between Dinkelscherben and Munich.
