Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman is a Swedish DJ and producer duo that was founded in Stockholm in 2010 . The duo is mainly active in the field of electro and progressive house and was able to attract attention for the first time in 2011 with their remix to the song The Scientist by the British band Coldplay . Her song Payback , released together with Steve Angello in spring 2014, has been one of the cornerstones of modern festival progressive house since its release. In addition to their solo career, they are also active as a songwriting and producer team. In 2016 they landed a worldwide hit with their participation in the song The Ocean by Swedish DJ and producer Mike Perry .
Career
The two musicians Dimitrios Vardalis and Andreas Christoffer Wiman formed a duo in 2010, after having been producing in the field of electronic music since 2007. They started with various club appearances and some remix assignments. In 2011 they made remixes to, among others, Tove Styrke and Lo-Fi-Fnk , which made their first name in the EDM scene on record labels such as “ Universal ” or Sony . On July 4, 2011, they released their debut single Ignited on the record label Nero Recordings together with the British duo The Funktuary . At the end of 2011 a bootleg followed the song The Scientist by Coldplay , which they offered for free download on SoundCloud. He received very positive feedback from various magazines and websites, which was followed by his first festival appearances.
In 2012 they signed a contract with the Sony sub-label Columbia Records , on which they released the singles Roll The Dice and Russia . These songs could be heard in the sets of various DJs at the Tomorrowland Festival 2012. In March 2012 they founded the record label "Triple V Music". The following year they produced a remix for the song People Of The Night by AN21 & Max Vangeli and Tiësto , which became a success. At the same time, they met the Swedish House Mafia member Steve Angello , with whom they worked. In addition, they signed a contract with Angellos Label Size Records.
After a collaboration with AN21, which was released under the title Rebel , they released the song Payback , produced together with Steve Angello, in March 2014 , with which they were able to land a success. The song received critical acclaim and quickly made it to the top of the Beatport charts. It also received support from numerous DJs such as Avicii , David Guetta and Martin Garrix . In collaboration with the British musician Harrison, they recorded a vocal version of the song. In September 2014 the follow-up single ID2 was released , the title of which comes from various recordings of the song published on the Internet that were made during their live performances.
In 2015 they founded the record label Buce Records, whose name traces back to Vangeli's Greek origins. The first release here was the song Running , which they produced together with Tom Cane. The following year, the songs Empire with Tom Staar and Daylight with Yves V were released . The latter was released on the Dutch record label Spinnin 'Records . At the end of the year, Horns appeared for the first time, a song that did not correspond to their original progressive house style.
After songs such as Gizzly with Futuristic Polar Bears and Legazy were released during the year , they founded the music company "WNG International" in October 2017. In 2018 they released the long-awaited single Phantom . This was originally produced together with the Russian DJ duo Matisse & Sadko. Due to lack of time, they finally jumped off the work, whereupon the Swedes released the song as a solo track. On June 1, 2018, they founded the Legion record label as a sub-label of their Buce Records. Tech house music should be released via Legion in the future. Another collaboration with Futuristic Polar Bears followed at the end of the year.
In 2019 they worked with Paul Green and Dzeko , among others . They also released a song in collaboration with Swedish DJ and producer Mike Perry and the duo Ten Times. This was entitled Changes and booked them their first place in the Swedish single charts.
Activity as a songwriter and producer
In 2016 they supported the Swedish DJ and producer Mike Perry in the production of the song The Ocean , which he recorded together with the singer Shy Martin. This was able to develop into a top 10 hit in over 10 countries and sold over half a million times in the USA alone. During their Tomorrowland performance in 2016, they invited Mike Perry on stage to perform the song in front of the audience. Since this success, they have been acting as the Swede's co-producer team from now on. They also produced several songs by the American producer duo Hot Shade.
