Diver Down is the fifth studio album by the American rock band Van Halen . It was established in April 1982 on the label Warner Bros. released. The album reached number 3 on the US charts.
history
Diver Down was recorded with Ted Templeman in two Los Angeles studios . The album cover shows the Diver Down flag , which is used in many states in the United States when a diver is in the area. When asked about this cover, David Lee Roth said that it meant that “there was something going on that's not apparent to your eyes. You put up the red flag with the white slash. Well, a lot of people approach Van Halen as sort of the abyss. It means, it's not immediately apparent to your eyes what is going on underneath the surface. "
The video of Oh, Pretty Woman was among the first to be dropped from MTV's program. The father of Edward van Halen and Alexander van Halen , Jan van Halen , played the clarinet with Big Bad Bill .
Success and criticism
The website Allmusic.com gave 3.5 out of 5 stars and wrote that the album was much “brighter” or “lighter” than its predecessor. "In many ways, it's a return to the early albums, heavy on covers and party anthems, but where those records were rough and exuberant - they felt like the work of the world's best bar band just made good, which is, of course , kind of what they were - this is undoubtedly the work of a finely honed band who has only grown tighter and heavier since their debut.
