Dominik Märki (born October 9, 1990 ) is a Swiss curler . He is currently a substitute for Peter de Cruz's team .

Career

He started his international career as a lead in the Swiss team of Skip Roger Gulka at the European Youth Olympic Festival 2009, where he won the gold medal. At the Junior World Championship in 2010 he was a substitute for Peter de Cruz's team. The Swiss won the gold medal after beating Ally Fraser's Scottish team in the final . In the following year Märki came back to the final with Team de Cruz as a substitute, but lost to Sweden with Skip Oskar Eriksson . In 2012 Märki led the Swiss junior team as Skip; he came with his team in sixth place.

At the 2014 World Cup , Peter de Cruz played on the position of second. The Swiss moved into the play-offs, lost there against the Swedes with Oskar Eriksson, but then won the game for 3rd place against the Canadians with Kevin Koe and won the bronze medal.

At the 2017 European Championships he was a substitute for de Cruz's Swiss team and won the bronze medal after winning the game for third place against Norway (Skip: Thomas Ulsrud ).

Märki took part in the men's tournament at the 2018 Winter Olympics as a substitute for the Swiss team (Skip: Peter de Cruz, Fourth: Benoît Schwarz , Second: Claudio Pätz , Lead: Valentin Tanner ) . After the Round Robin , the Swiss and the Great Britain came fourth. They won the tie-breaker against the British team around Kyle Smith , but were then defeated in the semifinals against Sweden with Skip Niklas Edin . In the game in third place they were able to defeat the Canadian team around Kevin Koe and win the bronze medal.

Private life

Märki is a watchmaker and lives with his wife in Fayetteville , Arkansas .
