From 1957 to 1991, Dresden-Nord was a district of Dresden on the right bank of the Elbe , which comprised large parts of the north of the then urban area. The seat of the council of the city district was the town hall Pieschen . At the head of the city district administration stood a city district mayor.

location

Between the Marienbrücke railway bridge and the Gohlis windmill , for example , the Elbe marked the south-western border of the district towards the Dresden-West district . The western border of the Dresden-Nord district was identical to the current outer city border with Radebeul . In the northwest and north to the Dresden-Nord motorway triangle, too , the course corresponds to the current outer city boundary. Boxdorf (today to Moritzburg ) and Volkersdorf (today to Radeburg ) are adjacent there . To the east of the Autobahn triangle, the city district boundary corresponds to the outer city boundary at that time and the current boundaries of the city districts of Klotzsche and Loschwitz to the villages of Weixdorf and Langebrück, which were incorporated into Dresden in 1999 . The eastern border is identical to the current outer city border to Radeberg . The southern border from the Todmühle to the Dresden-Ost district corresponds to the southern border of the Dresdner Heide to today's statistical districts of Weißig , Bühlau / Weißer Hirsch and Loschwitz / Wachwitz . Between the Saloppe waterworks and the Dresden Diakonissenanstalt , the Elbe formed the natural southern border to the Dresden-Mitte district . The further course of the border to the starting point of this description, the railway Marienbrücke, corresponds roughly to the border between today's statistical districts of Innere Neustadt and Äußere Neustadt .

As a result, the Dresden-Nord district comprised the entire current districts of Klotzsche and Pieschen , the statistical districts of Albertstadt , Leipziger Vorstadt , Radeberger Vorstadt and Äußere Neustadt as well as the Dresdner Heide. With the exception of the Inner New Town and the area between Loschwitz and Söbrigen , which was part of Dresden-East , this corresponded to the entire urban area on the right bank of the Elbe at that time. The Dresden-Nord district was divided into 86 residential districts with residential district committees of the National Front and residential district party organizations.

history

On May 14, 1957, the Dresden city council decided to reduce the number of city districts from nine to five. The Dresden-Nord district was then created in June 1957 through the merger of two smaller districts that were not formed until 1950. The city district VIII located to the west comprised the city districts Pieschen , Trachenberge , Trachau , Mickten , Übigau and Kaditz . The eastern district IX consisted of the outer Neustadt, the Leipziger Vorstadt, the Radeberger Vorstadt, the Albertstadt as well as Klotzsche , Hellerau , Wilschdorf and the Dresdner Heide.

At the time of its founding, the Dresden-Nord district had around 154,000 inhabitants. With the help of the census in 1981, a total of around 111,000 inhabitants was determined; Despite this sharp decline, Dresden-Nord was the largest urban district in Dresden both in terms of population and area.

From the five Dresden city districts of the GDR era, ten smaller units were formed in 1991 to make it easier for the residents to identify and to ensure closer proximity to the citizens. The name city district was replaced by local office area in order to distinguish itself from the nomenclature of the GDR era. Since September 2018 it has been called the city district again. Today the districts of Pieschen and Klotzsche, the north of the Loschwitz district (Dresdner Heide) and most of the Neustadt district extend over the area of the Dresden-Nord district .

District court Dresden-Nord

For each of the five Dresden city districts as well as the Dresden-Land district , a district court was responsible as the initial instance of ordinary jurisdiction. The Dresden District Court was superordinate to them.

The District Court of Dresden-Nord existed until June 30, 1990, after which the District Court of Dresden-Mitte, now the Dresden District Court , took over jurisdiction for all five city districts and the district and handed them over to the Dresden District Court on December 31, 1992 .
