Career

Dušan Salfický began his professional career in 1989 at Poldi SONP Kladno , when he was used in a game of the first division in the men's team of the club. From 1990 he played for HC Pardubice . During the following six seasons with the Czechs, he gave brief guest appearances with the Tri-City Americans from the Western Hockey League , HC Tábor , SK Botas Skuteč and HC Hradec Králové . In 1996, the goalkeeper went into his last season in the jersey of HC Pardubice, as he moved to league rivals HC Škoda Plzeň after the season , for which he was in goal until 2002. In the 2001 NHL Entry Draft , Salfický was selected in the fifth round in a total of 132nd place by the New York Islanders . He then stood for four games in the goal of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers , but returned early to Pardubice.

After the 2001/02 season , HK CSKA Moscow signed him from the Russian Super League , which he left in 2004 in the direction of Severstal Tscherepowez . There it held the left catcher for only one season and he went to Chimik Moskowskaya Oblast in 2005 , where he had to accept an average of only 2.11 goals per game and reached sixth place with the team in the final standings. After moving to HC Sparta Prague , Salfický won his first Czech championship in 2007 and played in the IIHF European Champions Cup .

After Salfický had spent the 2007/08 season with the Russian newly promoted Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod , he was signed by the Czech second division club HC Slovan Ústečtí Lvi , for whom he has played since then. At the end of the 2008/09 season he won the championship of the 1st league with the eagles from Ústí nad Labem , but failed in the relegation for the extra league at BK Mladá Boleslav .

The following season he began at Ústí, before he was loaned to HC Plzeň in October 2009 to replace the injured Tomáš Pöpperle . This loan was continued in the following season, and Salfický also received assignments at HC Litomerice . The 2011/12 season he started again at HC Litomerice, before he was loaned to HC Karlovy Vary in November 2011 , where he made 24 extra league appearances. At the end of the season, the loan contract was then transferred to HC Pardubice, who signed him for the 2012/13 season.

In 2014 he ended his career and became sports director at HC Pardubice.

International

On the international stage, Dušan Salfický played for the Czech national team at the World Championships in 2000 , 2001 and 2002 and at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin . At the World Championships in 2000 and 2001, the keeper won the gold medal. He also received the bronze medal at the Winter Olympics, although he was only the fourth goalkeeper of the Czechs behind Dominik Hašek , Milan Hnilička and Tomáš Vokoun and remained without any use.
