Écully is a commune with 18,517 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Métropole de Lyon in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes ; administratively it belongs to the arrondissement of Lyon .
geography
The municipality is located in the metropolitan area west of Lyon . The neighboring municipalities of Écully are:
- Dardilly in the north,
- Champagne-au-Mont-d'Or in the northeast,
- Lyon in the east,
- Tassin-la-Demi-Lune in the south and
- Charbonnière-les-Bains to the west.
The Ruisseau des Planches stream , which flows into the Saône in Lyon, runs along the western and southern borders of the municipality .
Transport links
Thanks to its proximity to Lyon, Écuilly has excellent transport connections. In the east of the municipality, the A6 motorway runs north from Lyon. The north-east is crossed by a railway line that leads to Mâcon via Dardilly and Villefranche-sur-Saône .

Écully is the seat of Groupe SEB . The town is also home to numerous supraregional schools and universities, such as the state engineering college École Centrale de Lyon , which is one of the Grandes écoles, and the private Paul Bocuse Institute for the hotel industry and culinary arts.
