Ed Mother of Pearl

Edwin George "Ed" Perlmutter (born May 1, 1953 in Denver , Colorado ) is an American politician of the Democratic Party .

On November 7, 2006, he defeated his Republican challenger Rick O'Donnell with 55% to 42% and has represented the 7th constituency of Colorado in the House of Representatives of the United States since January 4, 2007 . He was previously a member of the Colorado Senate from 1995 to 2003 . When he was elected, he was the first Democrat to win this Jefferson County district again in 30 years . After having been confirmed in his mandate in all subsequent elections including the elections in 2016, he is expected to be able to exercise his office until January 3, 2019. He has the option of a further candidacy.

He is a committee member on the Financial Services Committee of the House of Representatives.

Personal

Ed Perlmutter went to Jefferson High School in Edgewater , Colorado and then attended the University of Colorado at Boulder , where he studied history, economics and political science. In 1978 he graduated. Perlmutter and his wife Deana have three children.
