Edson Cordeiro (born February 9, 1967 in Santo André ) is a Brazilian singer and countertenor .

Life

Cordeiro has been singing since he was six, initially in the church choir of a Protestant church. He played children's theater and at the age of 16 he appeared in the rock opera Amapola by Miguel Briamonte , his future producer. In 1988 he acted as a singer and actor in the Brazilian edition of the rock musical Hair . The following year he went with The Imaginary Invalid by Molière on tour in Europe and North and Central America.

Edson Cordeiro was discovered on the street by a pop music manager in the early 1990s. Since August 1990 he has appeared as a singer with his own program. His first appearance in the Brazilian television with the aria of the Queen of the Night from The Magic Flute by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart made him known throughout the country and it became a popular pop singer in Brazil. His vocal range (ambitus) is four octaves (G - g ′ ′ ′). He uses this fortune for his broad musical repertoire, which ranges from soprano arias to samba to hard rock singing in the style of Joe Cocker . In 1997 he switched to electronic disco music, Clubbing was produced by Suba .

In 1994 and 1995 he also went on tour to Europe for the first time and became known to an insider audience. In the last few years he withdrew from show business and only returned to Germany for concerts in 2004 and 2005 after nine years. Since 2007 he has been touring mainly in Germany and other European countries together with the Klazz Brothers with a new program that moves between classical and jazz.
