Klazz Brothers & Cuba Percussion

Klazz Brothers & Cuba Percussion is an international musician quintet that combines classical music and jazz with Latin American rhythms .

The group emerged from the piano trio Klazz Brothers . It initially consisted of Kilian Forster ( double bass ), Tobias Forster ( piano ) and Tim Hahn ( drums ). During a Cuban tour in 2000 they met the Cuban percussionists Alexis Herrera Estevez ( timbales ) and Elio Rodriguez Luis ( congas ) and spontaneously played together. The five-person ensemble developed from this.

Since Tobias Forster's departure, the Armenian pianist David Gazarov was a member of the Klazz Brothers from December 2008 . Klazz Brothers & Cuba Percussion have been performing with the Colombian pianist Bruno Böhmer Camacho since 2010 . They also accompanied the singer Maria Markesini .

Klazz Brothers & Cuba Percussion received the Echo Klassik in the category “Classical music without borders” in 2003 for “Classic meets Cuba” and in 2006 for “Mozart meets Cuba ”. In 2005 the album "Classic meets Cuba" was nominated for the Grammy Award in the category Best Classical Crossover Album . Because of the sales for Jazz Meets Cuba , they were awarded the German Jazz Award .
