Edward Sedgwick

Edward Sedgwick (born November 7, 1892 in Galveston , Texas , † March 7, 1953 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American actor , director and film producer.

Life

He was born in Galveston, Texas, to Edward Sedgwick, Sr. and Josephine Walker, both stage actors. His younger siblings were actresses Eileen Sedgwick and Josie Sedgwick . Sedgwick made his first experience in the film business as an actor in the years 1915 to 1924. In particular, until 1917 he was mainly seen in short films.

In 1917 Sedgwick also turned to writing scripts, and from 1920 he began directing films himself. He was also the director of some of Buster Keaton's films at the transition from silent films to talkies . He worked as a director until his death, while as a screenwriter he only appeared until the late 1930s.

In 1958 Sedgwick received its own star on the Walk of Fame .

Sedgwick died of a heart attack in North Hollywood, California. He was buried in Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City .
