Egon Müller (born November 26, 1948 in Kiel ) is a former German speedway driver and singer.

He contested his first race in Mönkeberg in 1964 without a license. He started with trials and at 17 he appeared in a trial and fire show. At the age of 21 he came to rail sports.

Egon Müller was also active in the British professional speedway league: 1973 in Coatbridge (2nd division), 1976 in Hull and 1978 in Bristol. In the German Speedway Bundesliga, Müller started for Team 70 Brokstedt (today MSC Brokstedt), MSC Pocking and MSC Diedenbergen.

In 33 years of professional career, Müller has participated in seven finals of the Speedway World Championship. In 1983 he was the only German who won the world championship in speedway in the Motodrom Halbemond near Norden in East Friesland . He was also three times long track world champion . He drove his last race in 1997 in Jübek . In his career he has broken 69 bones.

Egon Müller became known through his music. At first he appeared under his real name, later as Amadeus Liszt. Musical successes included the songs Rock'n rollin 'Speedwayman , The devil wins and Win the Race .

In 1983 Egon Müller was elected Sportsman of the Year in Schleswig-Holstein after his speedway world championship title, and in the same year came 15th in the nationwide election for Sportsman of the Year. For his sporting successes, Müller received the Silver Laurel Leaf from the then Federal President Walter Scheel in 1976.

Egon Müller is currently working as an engine tuner for speedway machines. His protégés include the German youngster Tobias Kroner and the grass and long track ace Enrico Janoschka . He also successfully tuned the engines of Poland's Tomasz Gollob and the late ex-U21 world champion Robert Dados .

Since 2013 he has been working for Eurosport as a co-commentator on speedway broadcasts.
