Elinor Donahue

Elinor Donahue (actually Mary Eleanor Donahue , born April 19, 1937 in Tacoma , Washington ) is an American actress .

Life

As a small child, Donahue performed as a singer on the radio. At the age of five, she was hired by Universal Studios and from 1943 on, she appeared in mostly minor supporting roles in the cinema. In her early teens, she also performed as a dancer in Las Vegas . Donahue became known to a wide audience from 1954 through her leading role as the eldest daughter Betty Anderson in the family series Father is the Best with Robert Young and Jane Wyatt , which was one of the most successful US television series of the 1950s.

Donahue was also best known for her recurring role as Miriam , the friend of Tony Randall's character, in the 1970s sitcom Men's Economy . She has also appeared in films such as Pretty Woman and as a guest actress in series such as Raumschiff Enterprise , Mork vom Ork and Friends . In 1998 Donahue published the book In the Kitchen with Elinor Donahue .

Donahue was married to Richard Smith from 1955 until his divorce in 1961 and from 1962 until his death in 1991 with the television producer Harry Stephen Ackerman. She has been married to Lou Genevrino for the third time since 1992. She has four sons.
