Emil Sick

Emil Sick (born March 31, 1921 in Langenau near Ulm, † January 30, 1978 in Oberensingen ) was a German athlete .

Life

Sick's greatest sporting successes were winning titles in the javelin throwing competitions of the German Championships in 1949 , 1950 and 1951 . He achieved the following widths: 1949 in Bremen 62.10 m, 1950 in Stuttgart 63.52 m and 1951 in Düsseldorf 69.54 m. His home club was TSV Oberensingen in a small suburb of Nürtingen . In the title fights, however, he started for the Stuttgarter Kickers . There he is still on the 3rd place of the all-time club best list with a width of 72.07 m, which he threw on August 18, 1957 as third in the German championships in 1957 in Düsseldorf. In ten participations in German championships in javelin throwing, he always achieved a placement in the top ten. For the DLV ( German Athletics Association ) he took part in three international competitions.

After his active time as a javelin thrower he played handball and fistball at the TG Nürtingen and until his death fistball at his home club, TSV Oberensingen.

Emil Sick died of a heart attack at the age of 56. He was married to Lore Sick, nee Föhl, and had five children with her. Until his death he was employed as chief fire chief at the professional fire brigade in Stuttgart .
