Emmi Zeulner (born March 27, 1987 in Lichtenfels , Upper Franconia ) is a German politician ( CSU ) who has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2013 .

Education, job and life

Emmi Zeulner comes from a host family in Lichtenfels , Upper Franconia, and has four siblings. She was basket city queen in her hometown, where baskets are traditionally made and traded. Zeulner trained as a nurse and studied economics (subject European Economic Studies) at the University of Bamberg until 2013 . After her election to the Bundestag, she concentrated on her mandate and did not continue her studies.

Zeulner is in a relationship with the CSU state parliament member Jürgen Baumgärtner . The two have a daughter.

Political career

Zeulner joined the Junge Union at the age of 18 and the CSU a short time later. It has a seat in the local city ​​council and one in the district council of the Lichtenfels district .

In January 2013, Zeulner was nominated by the CSU as a direct candidate for the 2013 federal election for the Bundestag constituency of Kulmbach , the former constituency of Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg , which has been part of the Union with a large majority since 1950. In the federal election on September 22, 2013, she achieved the best first vote result in Upper Franconia with 56.9%. She was the youngest woman to be directly elected to the Bundestag in 2013.

In the 18th German Bundestag (2013–2017) she was a full member of the health committee and a deputy member of the committees for food, agriculture and defense .
