Attractions

The baroque Eringerfeld Castle , which was used as a hotel, conference and training center until 2014, is known nationwide. In 2015 part of the castle was used as refugee accommodation. The castle is to be converted into a high-quality hotel by 2022.

The place is often associated with the boarding school Schloss Eringerfeld , which existed from 1965 to 1987 and which accommodated up to 1200 students. The numerous school and boarding school buildings designed by architects Paul Dobras (Störmede) and Friedhelm Wodarz (Kamen) from 1967 to 1977 still characterize the townscape today.

Between 2000 and 2005 there was another boarding school in Eringerfeld, the Talenta School for the gifted . This was attended by around 100 students. The boarding school had to be closed in 2005 due to financial and personnel problems.

The state-approved substitute schools Gymnasium Eringerfeld and Realschule Eringerfeld have been active since 2006. About half of the students are from the boys and girls boarding school in Eringerfeld. About 400 pupils are currently attending the schools in Eringerfeld.
