Location of the stadium in Bogotá

The Estadio Metropolitano de Techo in Bogotá was built in 1954 near the then Aeropuerto de Techo airport in the Techo district, part of the Kennedy district . Initially, the stadium was a pure horse racing track and known under the name Hipódromo de Techo . Since 1995 the stadium has been used exclusively for football matches. It was a venue for the U-23 South American Championship in 1994.

In the years that followed, the stadium was used as a home by a few short-lived teams playing in the Primera B category. It was only with the rise of the La Equidad club that the football stadium gained in importance and was expanded. Before the renovation, it only had a capacity of 3,000 spectators and then became the third largest stadium in the city with around 10,000 seats, after the Estadio Nemesio Camacho and the Estadio Alfonso López Pumarejo . It was also equipped with a lighting system and modernized. A further expansion of the stadium to up to 23,000 spectator seats is in the course.

Today, in addition to the first division side La Equidad, the second division side Bogotá FC and Tigres FC play their home games at the Estadio Metropolitano de Techo. It was also Fortaleza FC's home ground from 2014 to 2016 .
