The Tulip European Open 1991 was a snooker tournament from the 1990/91 season that was held from March 10th to 16th. After two editions, the tournament moved to the Netherlands, where the Imax Center in the southern Dutch port city of Rotterdam was the venue. With Tulip , the tournament also got a new sponsor.
John Parrott , who had won twice in a row before, did not get past the first round this time, but the other favorites also failed prematurely. Tony Jones and Mark Johnston-Allen contested the underdog finals . Jones won 9-7, the only professional title in his career.
Main tournament
The top 32 of the world rankings were set for the main tournament. The players from 33rd place played two qualifying rounds, which resulted in a further 32 players who were then drawn into the top 32. Up to the semi-finals, the tournament mode was the same as last year, but the final was shortened again and you went back to Best of 17 as in the first tournament in 1989 .
