The 1992 European Open was a snooker tournament in the 1991/92 season that was held from March 10th to 14th at the Tongeren Snooker Center . The small town of Tongeren in southern Belgium near Liège was the fourth venue in four editions of the tournament, Belgium was the third host country. For the first time, the tournament had to do without a sponsor.
Tony Jones could not defend his title last year, he only made it to the round of 16. Last year's finalist Mark Johnston-Allen , however, made it to the finals again, but also missed the win in the second attempt. Vice world champion Jimmy White won the final 9: 3 and thus achieved his third tournament victory this season.
Main tournament
The top 32 of the world rankings were set for the main tournament. The players from 33rd place played two qualifying rounds, which resulted in a further 32 players who were then drawn into the top 32. After the tournament mode had previously been changed twice, this time it remained unchanged compared to the previous year.
