Evelyn Kroker

Evelyn Kroker (born June 7, 1942 in Chemnitz as Evelyn Modes ; † February 7, 2012 ) was a German sociologist , historian and economic archivist .

Kroker studied sociology, history and education. In the late 1960s, she was an assistant to Albrecht Timm at the Department of Economic and technological history of the Ruhr-University Bochum and received his doctorate in 1973 with a dissertation on the contribution of the mining industry to the world exhibitions from 1851 to 1880, with the Rudolf Kellermann Price was awarded for the history of technology.

She came to the German Mining Museum in Bochum as a research assistant in 1974 and was in charge of the mining archive there until her retirement .

Evelyn Kroker was also involved in various professional associations. From 1980 she was a member and 1992-1998 chairwoman of the board of the Association of German Business Archivists . In addition, she was chair of the specialist group for business archivists in the Association of German Archivists .

She had been married to mining historian Werner Kroker (1941–2015) since 1968 .
