The Federazione Italiana dello Scautismo (FIS, Italian Scout Federation) is the national scout organization in Italy . Scouting in Italy began in 1910, the Italian scouts were founding members of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) in 1922, and the girl scouts became members of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) in 1948 .
Members
The members of the federation are:
- Associazione Guide e Scouts Cattolici Italiani (AGESCI, Association of Italian Catholic Scouts and Guides )
- Corpo Nazionale Giovani Esploratori ed Esploratrici Italiani (CNGEI, National Corps of Italian Scouts and Girl Scouts , interdenominational)
Two minority scout associations are also associated with AGESCI:
- the South Tyrolean Scouting Association , the Catholic scouting movement of the German-speaking minority in South Tyrol .
- the Slovenske Zamejske Skavtske Organizacije of the Slovenes living in Friuli-Venezia Giulia .
