Helpterberg telecommunications tower

The Helpterberg telecommunications tower is a 170 meter high transmission tower for VHF radio and television on the southwest slope of the Helpter Mountains in Woldegk in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . The telecommunications tower , which is not open to the public , was built in 1981 by Deutsche Post and is now operated by Media Broadcast .

history

The transmitter on the Helpter Berg was commissioned by the DFF in 1955 . The first tower was a steel framework construction. During the GDR era, there was also a medium-wave transmitter here that used a triangular antenna as the transmitting antenna. During the GDR era, the first German television program was broadcast on channel 3 within VHF band I. In 1982 this channel was moved to channel 37.
