Fiery Elias

Fiery Elias is an old, slang term for steam locomotives or for the railway line on which they ran, and is mostly found on smaller branch lines .

Origin of name

The name comes from the fact that the biblical prophet Elias was raptured "towards heaven" in a fiery chariot drawn by fiery horses according to 2 Kings 2.1-18  EU .
