Normal or de jure version of a flag? Massachusetts flag

The current flag of the US state of Massachusetts was introduced on March 6, 1915.

layout

The flag shows the state seal on a white field. The white cloth comes from military flags, including the coat of arms, which goes back to the seal of the Massachusetts Bay Colony.

seal

The seal shows an Algonquin Indian ( "Native American, Massachuset"  - Indian from the Massachuset tribe ) with leggings and moccasins , who holds a golden bow in one hand and a golden arrow in the other hand, the tip of which points downwards. In the corner above this Indian is a silver five-pointed star that stands for Massachusetts as one of the 13 founding states of the United States.

The shield is bordered by a blue banner with the Latin motto of the state in gold letters: "Ense petit placidam sub libertate quietem." ("With the sword he seeks the quiet rest under the protection of freedom.") Above the shield is a Depicted arm with sword illustrating the first part of the motto, while the downward pointing arrow illustrates the will to peace.
