Flak barracks Küniglberg
The anti-aircraft barracks Küniglberg was a barracks built for the Wehrmacht in June 1938 on the 257 meter high Küniglberg in the 13th district in Vienna . The construction took place before the necessary land purchase was legally valid. Simultaneously with the establishment, the construction of the flak barracks in Ludwigsburg began .
In the young Second Republic, the Federal Ministry for National Defense wanted to convert the barracks into a radar station . However , this project was dropped for reasons of landscape protection . In place of the barracks, the ORF-Zentrum Küniglberg , designed by Roland Rainer , was built here from 1968 to 1974 .
