Franklin is a city (with the status " City ") in Milwaukee County in the US -amerikanischen State Wisconsin . In 2010 Franklin had 35,451 residents, the number of which increased to 36,310 by 2013.
The city of Franklin, like all of Milwaukee County, is part of the Milwaukee Metropolitan Area .

Franklin is located in the southern suburbs of the city of Milwaukee in southeast Wisconsin. The city lies on both sides of the Root River , which flows into Lake Michigan in neighboring Racine County .
The geographic coordinates of Franklin are 42 ° 53'57 "north latitude and 88 ° 00'08" west longitude. The urban area extends over an area of 89.85 km².
Milwaukee city center is 14 miles northeast. Other cities in the near and far are West Allis (10 miles north), Wisconsin's capital Madison (131 miles west), Chicago in the neighboring state of Illinois (136 miles south) and Racine (21 miles southeast).
