Friedrich-Gustav Bernhard

Friedrich-Gustav Bernhard (born October 5, 1888 on Gut Radau ; † December 23, 1945 in Bryansk ) was a German lieutenant general in World War II .

Life

Bernhard was a professional soldier and served in the First World War . Until 1920 he was held in Russian captivity.

In 1939 he was appointed Army News Leader for the 18th Army . From 1940 to 1941 Bernhard served as a news leader for Army Group A and South . From 1942 he served as commander of the rear army area (Korück 532) and was subordinate to the 2nd Panzer Army .

On March 17, 1944, he was awarded the German Cross in Gold.

Bernhard fell into Soviet captivity and was sentenced to death and executed in Bryansk in late 1945 on charges of war crimes .
