Friedrich Wolff (politician, 1912)

Friedrich Wolff (born March 24, 1912 in Essen -West; † December 13, 1976 in Essen- Rellinghausen ) was a German economist , journalist , administrative officer and politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

Friedrich Wolff was the son of a Krupp worker. After attending elementary school and the reform grammar school of the Krupp high school, he graduated from high school in 1931. In 1931/32 he had completed an informational activity at the Institute for Economic Research in Essen. From 1932 to 1935 Wolff began studying economics , business administration and public law at the University of Cologne , the University of Vienna and the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , from which he graduated with a degree in economics. He then worked as a university assistant. In February 1936 he received his doctorate as Dr. rer. pole.

From April 1936 to 1943 he worked as a business editor for the Frankfurter Zeitung . Between 1940 and 1946 he did military service and was taken prisoner by the French until February 1, 1946. On April 1, 1946, he was appointed city director in Essen. There he was department head for human resources and organization as well as city treasurer until 1950. On October 30, 1957, he was appointed senior city director to succeed Hellmuth Greinert . After his administrative work he was co-editor of the Essen city gazette . He was also chairman or member of several committees, organizations and associations.

On December 31, 1963, Wollf took early retirement for health reasons. He was buried in the Ostfriedhof in Essen .

Political party

Wolff joined the SPD in 1930 and was involved in the socialist youth movement until 1933.

MP

Wolff was a member of the Parliamentary Council from September 1, 1948 to May 8, 1949 , which created the Basic Law for the Federal Republic of Germany .

Honors

In 1959 Wolff became an honorary citizen of RWTH Aachen .
