The Frisia I is a car and passenger ferry operated by the Norden-Frisia shipping company , which operates regular services between the East Frisian island of Norderney and Norddeich .
history
The Frisia I was built in 1970 under the construction number 561 at the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg . The keel was laid in October 1969, the launch on April 24, 1970. The ship was completed in June 1970.
In 1985 the ferry was extended from the original 52 to the current 63.7 meters and can thus accommodate 52 vehicles and 800 passengers.

The Frisia I is powered by a total of three main engines, a six - cylinder four-stroke engine from the manufacturer Volvo Penta (type: TAMD 163 A) with an output of 405 kW , which acts on a fixed propeller, and two twelve-cylinder four-stroke engines from the manufacturer Volvo Penta (type: D 25 A-MS) with an output of 440 kW each, which act on two rudder propellers.
