With the final submission of this people in 338 BC The city became part of the Roman Empire. 306 BC Frusino dared , as it was now called, another uprising against Rome, which ended with the sack of the city and the public beheading of the leaders in Rome. In late antiquity two popes came from Frosinone, today the city patron. During the Migration Period and in the Middle Ages, the city was destroyed several times, but it was repeatedly rebuilt as an important fortress on the Via Latina. The last looting took place in 1556 by the Duke of Alba . In 1927 it became the capital of the newly installed province of Frosinone. During the Second World War, the city suffered heavy damage again, so that Frosinone today has a largely modern cityscape.
