Gabor Benedek

Gabor Benedek (born October 12, 1938 in Budapest , Hungary; † June 27, 2019 in Munich ) was a Hungarian-German architect and cartoonist .

Life

Gabor Benedek studied architecture from 1958 to 1960 at the Technical University in Budapest and from 1961 to 1966 at the Technical University of Munich , where he graduated in 1967 with a degree in engineering. After working in the offices of Hans-Busso von Busse and Kurt Ackermann (1967–1970), he founded his own architecture office in Munich in 1970.

From 1968 to 2012 he was a permanent caricaturist for the Süddeutsche Zeitung and also drew weekly for the Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung from 1971 to 1994 and for the TV station 3sat / ZDF from 1986 to 1988 . Since 2016 he has been working with Jürgen Weiss under the name BWP Architects .

Private life

Benedek had been married to the psychoanalyst Reka Benedek since 1973. They have two sons.
