Günter Flessner

Günter Flessner (born November 7, 1930 in Tarbek ; † May 12, 2016 in Dersau ) was a German politician ( CDU ). From 1975 to 1988 he was Minister for Food, Agriculture and Forestry in Schleswig-Holstein .

Life and work

Flessner grew up on his parents' farm in Himbeersahl , Plön district . After attending middle school , he completed an agricultural apprenticeship. Flessner visited u. a. the agricultural school in Preetz and finished his training as an agricultural master. Günter Flessner was a self-employed farmer , married and the father of three children.

Political party

Since 1962 Flessner was a member of the CDU. For many years he was deputy chairman of the CDU district association in Plön and from 1973 to 1989 deputy chairman of the CDU Schleswig-Holstein .

MP

From 1966 to 1972 he was a member of the municipal council of his place of residence Dersau and from 1966 to 1971 also of the district council of the Plön district.

From 1971 to 1988 he was a member of the state parliament of Schleswig-Holstein . Flessner entered the state parliament in 1987 via the state list and before that always as a directly elected member of the Plön-Süd constituency .

Public offices

After the state elections in 1975, Flessner was appointed Minister for Food, Agriculture and Forestry on May 26, 1975 in the state government of Schleswig-Holstein led by Prime Minister Gerhard Stoltenberg . He also retained this office under his successor, Uwe Barschel , who was in office from 1982 to 1987 . After Uwe Barschel's resignation on October 2, 1987, Flessner was still a member of the executive state government headed by Henning Schwarz . After the state elections in 1988, in which the SPD won an absolute majority of the votes, Flessner left the government on May 31, 1988.

Social offices

Flessner was from 1955 to 1959 chairman of the rural youth in Schleswig-Holstein. After serving on the board of the Schleswig-Holstein Chamber of Agriculture from 1958 , he was President of the Schleswig-Holstein Chamber of Agriculture from 1968 to 1975. From 1970 he was a member of the board of directors of the German Agricultural Society , of which he was president from 1991 to 1997 after leaving the state government.

1996: Justus von Liebig Prize from the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel

1997: Large Max Eyth Golden Medal

2000: Golden Brent Goose Feather .
