Günter Klausch

Günter Klausch (born November 13, 1944 - † February 1, 2018 ) was a football player in the GDR Football Association (DFV) . In the Oberliga , the top division of the DFV, Klausch played for SC Chemie Halle and 1. FC Union Berlin .

Athletic career

Klausch began his career as a football player in 1952 in the children's team of the company sports association (BSG), Aufbau Jüterbog . There last played in the third-class district league Potsdam . In the summer of 1962 Klausch was a member of the GDR junior national team. On September 16, 1962, he played as a substitute in the match Poland - GDR (3-1) his only junior international match. In 1963 he was district champion with Jüterbog and took part in the promotion games to the GDR league . However, his team did not achieve promotion. Then Klausch was delegated to the upper division SC Chemie Halle. He had to wait until matchday 18 for his first league appearance. On April 26, 1964, he was used for the first time as a left winger in the encounter SC Chemie - Turbine Erfurt (3-1). In this position he played a total of seven times by the end of the season, but came to no goal. He owed his missions to the failure of the previous left winger Rainer Topf . The Halle residents ended the 1963/64 season as relegated, so that Klausch then had to play in the second-rate GDR league. After a year the team returned to the league, but Klausch was again only a supplementary player. Again he came only to seven league appearances and this time remained without a goal.

In the season 1966/67 Klausch was not used in the league until October 1966, in November he was drafted into the army for 18 months. During this time he played for the army sports community Vorwärts Meiningen in the GDR league. After his release from the " National People's Army ", Klausch did not return to Halle, but instead joined the league club and GDR cup winner 1. FC Union Berlin. With the East Berliners he became a regular player in his first season in 1968/69 as a left winger with 23 league appearances. After the end of the season, Klausch experienced his second league relegation. With 29 GDR league appearances and five goals, he played a decisive role in the immediate return to the House of Lords, where he was able to maintain his regular position on the left attacking side in the first team until 1973. In the summer of 1973 the Unioners were again relegated, and the 29-year-old Klausch had to play his last season at 1. FC Union again in the second division. He played all 22 GDR league point games and six of the eight promotion games that brought the Union back to the league.

After 171 competitive games for 1. FC Union Berlin, including 97 league games with six goals, Klausch moved to East German league promoted BSG Stahl Finow at the beginning of the 1974/75 season and stayed there until relegation to the district league in 1977. Then Klausch finished 32 years old his career as a competitive athlete. He then worked as a recreational footballer with the East Berlin sports associations Sparta Lichtenberg and SV Buchholz. He later also worked as a trainer in Buchholz.
