Gaspar Aguero y Barreras

Gaspar Agüero y Barreras (born February 15, 1873 in Camagüey , † May 18, 1951 in Havana ) was a Cuban music researcher, music teacher and composer.

Agüero studied at the University of Havana with his father Oliverio Agüero and Rafael Palau, among others. He received his PhD in education from this university. He taught at the Havana Conservatory from 1902 to 1907 . He also directed the Orfeón Catalán and performed as a concert pianist. In addition to ten Zarzuelas, he composed two masses , a symphonic ballad, a symphonic sketch and piano pieces .
