Realms
The field - mostly used in the plural the field - is a sophisticated word for a wide, sunny, lovely landscape or corridor with the character of an open, only gently sloping terrain . It is related to the word field .
The Old High German gifildi (Middle High German gevilde ) described the totality of fields . This collective formation in the field was partially retained in the current sense of the word.
“Fields” in parlance
The linguistic usage knows some phrases and word combinations that are mostly associated with manageable stretches of land, varied terrain and pleasant feelings or the longing for them, for example
- the heavenly or Elysian realms
- the realms of the blessed (the paradise of classical antiquity)
- at the home territory approach
- a trip through the wonderful areas of the Neckar, the Wachau, etc.
- from distant climes come
- in the vast fields (e.g. poetry),
but sometimes also with unpleasant situations like
- the sodomite realms
- the realms of the lost
- the neighboring realms to which a thief changes.
“Gefilde” as a geographical name
In open landscapes , rolling hills or varied natural areas , the term is sometimes used as part of a proper name, for example
- in the Upper Lusatian region ,
- in the Waldeck region ,
- near Dresden Saxon loess field
- as a street and green area "in the field" between the Munich districts Neuperlach and Waldperlach ,
- and from the root of the word in the Filder plateau near Stuttgart ,
- the small settlement Gefilde (Eisenach) .
- the plateau "Gefild" in the Bohemian Forest with the villages of Kvilda (Aussergefild) and Horska Kvilda (Innergefild)
