Gente de Zona (sometimes Gente D'Zona ) is a Cuban Reggaeton - band , which was founded in 2000 by band member Alexander Delgado. The group combines reggaeton with traditional elements of Cuban music. Gente de Zona had their first international success in 2014 with the song Bailando in collaboration with Enrique Iglesias . The song won three Latin Grammy awards.

history

The history of the band began when some rappers met in Alamar near Havana in 2000 , including Ernesto Taxista (former member). The name of the group, Gente de Zona, indicates their origin.

Alexander Delgado then met Michel Delgado, also known as "El Karo", and the two began to play at parties in Guanabacoa , Regla and Alamar. After a short time the group was supported by many people in these places, whereupon they appeared for the first time at international festivals. There were also performances at rap festivals in Cuba .

In 2005 Michel Delgado left the group. Then Alexander Delgado called Jacob Forever, who at the time was the director of the group Made in Cuba and was already working with Pachito Alonso and Eddy K. In addition to Forever, Nando Pro also joined the band as a music producer and DJ, which means that the band now has three members.

In March 2013 Gente de Zona announced the exit of Jacob Forever, who then began a solo career together with Nando Pro. In the same year Randy Malcom became part of Gente de Zona, whereby the band today consists of Alexander Delgado and Randy Malcom.

In 2014 Gente de Zona published the song Bailando together with Enrique Iglesias and Descemer Bueno , which helped the group to international success. The song was number one in the charts in many European and Latin American countries.
