Glass is a Dutch short documentary directed by Bert Haanstra in 1958.

action

The film shows the manufacture of glass in various forms. He follows the work of the glassblowers , who create individual pieces with great skill, although depending on the size of the object, heavy physical work is necessary to create the vessel. The hand-made piece of glass is juxtaposed with machine production, such as the production of glass bottles of various colors. The main task of humans is to monitor the production process. If a machine cannot carry out a work process as planned, there is a risk of the loss of numerous glass bottles, as shown in an example.

production

The idea for glass came to director and producer Bert Haanstra while working on the film Over glas , which he directed for the Dutch company Vereenigde Glasfabrieken and which was completed in 1958. In contrast to this film, there is no comment on glass . Glass was published in 1958 and was shown at the Berlinale in the same year .

Awards
