The show jumping horse Goldfever is a chestnut stallion born in 1991, he was presented by Ludger Beerbaum . He is by the Zangersheider stallion Grosso Z out of a dam by Galvano and carries the brand of the Hanoverian Breeding Association himself. In 2009 he was retired from sport at the CHIO Aachen , where he won the Grand Prix in 2002 and 2003. With a total profit of around 2.8 million euros, he is one of the most successful show jumpers of all time. He is also a licensed and performance- tested breeding stallion. After he was only used in sports between 2001 and 2009, he is available again as a breeding stallion after his departure in Aachen. You can see his outstanding sire qualities in his daughter Gotha, who is internationally successful with Ludger Beerbaum.

Doping allegations 2004

During the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens Gold Fever was positive for the banned substance Betamethasone tested. Ludger Beerbaum defended himself vehemently against the doping allegations , stating that the substance had entered the horse's bloodstream through an ointment that was applied to treat a minor injury. He took responsibility for it, but attached great importance to the fact that it was not a question of conscious doping to improve performance. In September 2005 the disqualification of the Beerbaum / Goldfever couple was finally confirmed by the CAS . Beerbaum lost his gold medal, as did the other German riders who received the bronze medal instead.
