Stuttgart German Masters
The Stuttgart German Masters is an international horse show that has been held every November since 1985 in the Schleyerhalle in Stuttgart . It is considered the best indoor tournament in Germany and one of the best in the world. The spectators get to see four equestrian disciplines with jumping , dressage , driving and eventing . Some show numbers are also on the program.
The tournament
At the tournament premiere of the Stuttgart German Masters in 1985 the equestrian greats Paul Schockemöhle , Dr. Reiner Klimke , Hans Günter Winkler and Nelson Pessoa tournament ambassadors. The Baden-Württemberg horse magazine "Reiterjournal" also got the hang of it and advertised for riders, breeders and spectators.
The most successful show jumping rider of the tournament until 2008 was Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum . In 2006, 2007 and 2008 she won the Grand Prix, which has been an official World Cup special test since 2002. In 2008 she also won the “Master”. This “double” was previously only achieved by John Whitaker . She was replaced in 2009 and since then Ludger Beerbaum has been the most successful show jumper at the German Masters. After 1994, 2000 and 2002 he won the Grand Prix for the fourth time in 2009.
At the Stuttgart German Masters, several well-known athletes "in and under the saddle" were retired from sport:
- Ahlerich , dressage horse from Dr. Reiner Klimke
- Gigolo and Satchmo, dressage horses by Isabell Werth
- Milton , John Whitaker's jumper
- 2012: Dressage rider Silvia Iklé and her horse Salieri CH
The tournament has already received several awards, in 1998 the International Club of Show Jumping awarded it the title of "world's best indoor riding tournament". In 1993, 1999 and 2001 it was named the "world's best indoor dressage tournament".

Vaulting
The vaulters have also been part of the Stuttgart German Masters since 2001 . From 2001 to 2005 three special tests were carried out - a compulsory test, a freestyle test and a pas de deux . This mode took place under the name "German Vaulting Masters" and was first sponsored by Karstadt , later among others by Rainbow Tours . In each case, one female and one male vigilante started as team partners.
In 2006 the Stuttgart German Masters took place without vaulting tests. From 2007 the vaulting competitions moved to the neighboring Porsche Arena . In 2007 and 2008 there was only one freestyle vaulting test that was advertised for teams.
In 2009, attempts were made to build on old traditions: The prize was advertised for Pas de Deux (preferably one single female and one male female) and moved back to the Hanns Martin Schleyer Hall. The couples competed in two special tests (freestyle), which were combined in an overall ranking. In 2010 the vaulting competitions were announced internationally for the first time (as CVI 2 *).
In 2013 the pas de deux was part of the newly created pas de deux classification of the FEI Vaulting World Cup . In 2014, the pas de deux was initially planned as part of the World Cup. However, there was not a pair of World Cup season in Stuttgart his nomination from, hence the invitation to a CVI Master Class was modified. Since the Vaulting World Cup regulations made compulsory competitions for individual vaulters from the 2015/2016 season, Stuttgart withdrew and waived vaulting tests.
