The Goshen College is a Mennonite college in the US. It was founded in Elkhart, Indiana in 1894 as the Elkhart Institute . In 1903 the university moved to nearby Goshen, where the university campus is still located today. Almost 1,000 students are currently enrolled at Goshen College. As a Liberal Arts College, Goshen College offers a wide range of courses. In addition to courses in theology and conflict avoidance, courses in economics, communication, education, history and American sign language are also offered. The college has been offering an international exchange program with Goshen's Study Service Term since 1968 . The college sees itself as a Christian university, but also accepts students from other religious groups. As a Christian university, it is a member of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities .
The college is also home to the 1906 founded by Harold Bender Stauffer Mennonite Historical Library (to German Mennonite Historical Library ) and the 1927 magazine published Mennonite Quarterly Review . The library is important as a specialist library for Mennonite and Anabaptist history beyond North America. The archives of the Mennonite Church USA and the Mennonite Central Committee are also located here. During the Second World War, Goshen Colleges was one of the training centers for the community service programs initiated by the Mennonite Central Committee.
