Graffignano is a municipality with 2218 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Viterbo in the Italian region of Lazio .
geography
Graffignano is located 101 km north of Rome and 28 km northeast of Viterbo in the valley of the Tiber . The municipality extends over a height of 62 to 326 m slm
The district of Sipicciano and the residential areas Litigata, Pisciarello, Poggio del Castagno, San Nicola and Tardani belong to the municipality.
The neighboring communities are Alviano ( TR ), Attigliano (TR), Bomarzo , Civitella d'Agliano , Lugnano in Teverina (TR) and Viterbo .
The community is located in earthquake zone 3 (little risk).
traffic
The municipality of Graffignano is crossed by the A1 Autostrada del Sole . However, the next driveway is only 15 km away in Attigliano. The municipality has a train station on the Orte-Viterbo railway in the Sipicciano district.
history
The municipality has been settled since ancient times, as numerous Etruscan and Roman finds prove. The present place was founded in the 13th century by Pandolfo d'Anguillara.

politics
Adriano Santori ( PD ) was elected mayor in June 2009. He replaced Fabrizio Marchini (2004-2009), who was no longer a candidate. His center-left list also has a majority in the local council with 8 out of 12 seats. Anselmo Uzzoletti has been mayor since June 11, 2014.

Attractions
The Baglioni Castle was built in the 13th century over the remains of ancient buildings.
