Grisen ( Eng . The Pig ) is a Danish short film. At the 2009 Academy Awards , it was nominated for Best Short Film, but did not win. The film was based on a novella by Lars Saabye Christensen .
action
The tailor Asbjørn Jensen has to go to hospital for an operation on his rectum. In the otherwise rather sparse and large hospital room, he is amused by the image of a jumping pig. Looking at it makes the examinations and the stay easier for him. When his doctor reports that the examinations have found polyps, which can also be malignant, the picture turns into a kind of guardian angel.
He was therefore very unlucky when he woke up after the operation and the picture was removed. In addition, he is no longer alone in the room and, unlike him, the man in the bed next door is looked after by his family. The nurse Martha informs him that the family of his fellow patient Aslam would like the picture to be removed. Asbjørn calls his daughter, Mona, who is a lawyer. She should take care of the matter. Mona rushes to the hospital and is amused by her father's request. Instead of the picture, she hangs the drawing of the pig made by her father on the wall.
After eating together, they come back to the room. Aslam has just returned from his operation there and has another family visit. In front of Asbjørn and Mona, Aslam’s son, Hammid, tears off the drawing and throws it away. That goes too far for Mona and she confronts Hammid. They discuss mutual consideration and whose feelings are more important, that of Aslam's Muslim family, whose religious sentiment is disturbed by the portrayal of the pig, or that of Asbjørn, who believes the pig would help him.
Ultimately, the discussion, to which the hospital director has meanwhile also been called in, is interrupted by Asbjørn's attending doctor. He can deliver the good news that the polyps are benign and Asbjørn can be discharged tomorrow. Now he no longer needs the pig.
The family members leave the room to discuss. Later wakes Aslam from anesthesia and says he most glaucoma is suffering, but the operation did not succeed, he was still blind. He asks Asbjørn to describe what he cannot see.
