Großnaundorf is a Saxon municipality in the west of the Bautzen district , which belongs to the Pulsnitz administrative community .
Geography and traffic
The community is located about 25 kilometers northeast of the state capital Dresden and 7 kilometers northwest of Pulsnitz . The federal motorway 4 runs south of the municipality and can be reached via the Pulsnitz junction. The municipality is located in the hills of the West Lusatian hill country (up to 448 m above sea level ) at the foot of the Keulenberg . The hilltops are mostly forested.
history
The place is documented for the first time in 1309 as Nuwendorf . The name is derived from the Middle High German nūwe , meaning nhd. "New". To distinguish it from similarly named localities, the current place name thus denotes a "large new village".

Since the municipal council election on May 25, 2014 , the 12 seats of the municipal council have been distributed among the individual groups as follows:

- Ensemble of church, rectory and first school in town (stylized in the Großnaundorf town coat of arms)
- Old school; Erected in 1908 in Art Nouveau style, expanded in 1931. This building houses the exhibition on the local history, which was set up on the occasion of the 650th anniversary in 1999.

- Lauterbachtal, a scenic gem located between Großnaundorf and Kleindittmansdorf.
