The community is located about 25 kilometers northeast of the state capital Dresden and 7 kilometers northwest of Pulsnitz . The federal motorway 4 runs south of the municipality and can be reached via the Pulsnitz junction. The municipality is located in the hills of the West Lusatian hill country (up to 448  m above sea  level ) at the foot of the Keulenberg . The hilltops are mostly forested.
