Guttorm Berge (born April 19, 1929 in Vardal , Oppland , † March 13, 2004 in Høvik , Bærum ) was a Norwegian ski racer .
Berge studied in the United States , where he was part of the strong team at Middlebury College, Vermont, along with Becky Fraser and Penny Pitou . The greatest success of his career he celebrated in 1952 when he won the bronze medal in slalom at the Olympic Winter Games in Oslo , where he was also 13th in the giant slalom. At that time, the Olympic Games were also rated as World Championships. Four years later, he remained at the 1956 Winter Olympics in Cortina d'Ampezzo without a result and was eliminated in both slalom and giant slalom.
At the 1950 World Championships in Aspen Berge achieved eighth place in giant slalom, at the 1954 World Cup in Åre he started in slalom, but was disqualified. In 1948 Berge was Norwegian champion in downhill and combined, in 1956 he won the titles in slalom and giant slalom and in 1958 again in giant slalom. He won the Silver Belt at Sugar Bowl in 1950 and 1951 and was American slalom champion in 1951 .
