György Kósa

György Kósa [ ˈɟørɟ ˈkoːʃɒ ] (born April 24, 1897 in Budapest , Austria-Hungary ; † August 16, 1984 there ) was a Hungarian composer .

Kósa studied from 1905 to 1916 with Béla Bartók , Zoltán Kodály and Victor von Herzfeld . From 1927 he led a piano class at the Budapest Conservatory.

He composed nine operas , four ballets and the music for four pantomimes , nine symphonies and an orchestral suite, chamber music works, eleven oratorios , several cantatas , a mass , a dies irae , two requiem and songs .
