Hajo Steinert (* 1952 in Goslar ) is a German writer , radio journalist and literary critic.

Life

Steinert grew up in Düsseldorf and Gummersbach , studied from 1974 to 1977 at the University of Siegen and from 1977 to 1980 at the University of Houston German and comparative literature. He made his 1980 graduation as Master of Arts in Houston and completed his doctorate in 1983, Dr. phil. with Professor Helmut Kreuzer in Siegen. He has lived in Cologne since 1984.

Professional activity

From 1975 to 1980 Steinert worked as a research assistant and research assistant at the universities in Siegen and Houston. From 1980 on he wrote regularly film and literary reviews for the Siegener Zeitung , the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger and the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (until 1988). "Der Liebesidiot" tells the turbulent, tragic and comical story of a man who, after years of erotic experimentation, longs for one thing above all: the return of love. In his novel "Blumenspiel", published in 2019, Steinert tells of a blacksmith and a seamstress who flee the noisy city of Cologne on the Rhine in 1909 and end up in the drop-out colony on Monte Verità in Ascona.
