The Quiberon peninsula is located in the Morbihan department in Brittany in France . On the peninsula are u. a. the communes of Quiberon and Saint-Pierre-Quiberon .

The long peninsula is connected to the mainland by the less than 100 m wide isthmus of Penthièvre, which is a tombolo and has only connected the original island with the land since the 11th century.

The Côte Sauvage - "wild coast"

Two different landscapes dominate the coast. The east coast, sheltered from the prevailing winds, opens to a large, calm bay, the Baie de Quiberon , which is extended by the Carnac coast. The eight kilometer long western Côte Sauvage (Wild Coast) is under the onslaught of wind and waves. In the west lies the Île Téviec , which is known for its rich Mesolithic finds. To the west of Portivy, close to the sea above the steep coast, lies the Beg-Port-Blanc dolmen , an example of a tomb with a domed vault .

At the southern end of Saint-Pierre-Quiberon, a road leads to a half cromlech consisting of 40 menhirs and to a stone avenue , the five rows of which can be followed to the beach. At low tide you can see a number of menhirs, similar to Er Lannic's , submerged in the water. These alignments must have been created before the sea transgression. The Porz Guen dolmens are located on the peninsula . There are several menhirs on the west coast. The menhirs Manemeur 2 and 3 are about 300 meters at the junction into Rue de Manemeur. The menhirs "Beg-er-Goalennec" are just 500 meters further and the menhir "Manemeur 4" is another 450 meters further.

The naval battle in the Bay of Quiberon (also Bataille des Cardinaux) was a naval battle in the Seven Years War . It took place on November 20, 1759.
