Hans-Dieter Roser

Hans-Dieter Roser (born January 6, 1941 in Allentsgschwendt in the Waldviertel ) is an Austrian historian , Germanist , music and theater scholar , dramaturge and dispatcher with a focus on operas , operettas and musicals .

career

Roser first completed the Piarist High School in Krems (Matura 1959) and then, in addition to studying scientific subjects at the Universities of Vienna and Bern, also trained as an actor . From 1962 onwards he worked as an actor and as an assistant director (including Stadttheater Bern ). From 1965 to 1967 Roser was a dramaturge and actor at the Landesbühne Schleswig-Holstein in Rendsburg , from 1967 to 1972 head of the artistic office at the Theater an der Wien (directorate Rolf Kutschera ). During this time he was also an employee of the Wiener Festwochen under Ulrich Baumgartner in the operations office and as a director. Subsequently, Roser was music dramaturge at the Staatstheater Kassel (artistic director Peter Löffler ) until 1975 . For the years 1976 to 1982 he moved to the management office of the Burgtheater (management Achim Benning ). From 1982 to 1986 he was alongside Karl Dönch the Vice Director of the Vienna Volksoper and from 1986 to 1991 the artistic director of operations at the Vienna State Opera (director Claus Helmut Drese / Claudio Abbado ). Between 1991 and 1998 he moved to the Berlin State Opera Unter den Linden in the same position (artistic director Georg Quander / Daniel Barenboim ). After that, Roser was mainly active in music journalism.
