Beginning of the art business 1995 in the Weserburg Museum for Modern Art Bremen

The collector's museum opened the Goya exhibition by Hans-Peter Porzner at the end of 1994 . This was the first real exhibition of the imaginary Museum for Modern Art Munich in collaboration with a museum. The exhibition was curated by Peter Friese .

With his imaginary museum, Porzner drew the art industry's attention to the subject of the art business as art in the sense of a permanent reflection, especially between 1995 and 2000 . This crossed the line between art and philosophy. As a result, there were a number of exhibitions in the Weserburg on the subject of the art world and institutional criticism . In particular, the exhibition Originals curated by the then director of the Weserburg, Thomas Deecke , is real / false. Imitation, copy, quotation, appropriation, forgery in contemporary art (1999). After 2000 the program was expanded to include global art scenes.

The first systematic analysis of the art business and its art is the artistic work Art and Everyday Life (1981–1988) . From this , the artistic project Museum für Moderne Kunst München developed . It is therefore not Musée Sentimental , no contribution of art history , the criticism , the aesthetics according to the question: What are vanguards afford?

The idea of the collector's museum was also linked to individual aspects of art and everyday life (1981–88) in order to avoid the matter of a mere everyday story at the same time .

The term operating system art was introduced by Thomas Wulffen in February 1994 at the Kunstforum International . Andrea Fraser , Isabelle Graw and the exhibition organizer and theorist Helmut Draxler worked on this topic with the same intensity as Hans-Peter Porzner, Peter Friese, Thomas Deecke and Thomas Wulffen .

Helmut Friedel , the long-time director of the Lenbachhaus , responded to Hans-Peter Porzner and his conception of art and everyday life (1981-88) with the exhibition Paradoxien des Everyday .

Presentation to an art audience

On October 23, 1996, Hans-Peter Porzner invited the Munich art public to the rooms of the Karin Sachs Gallery for an exhibition presentation . The public was allowed to paint fifteen empty canvases on display with the oil paints provided. The resulting pictures were ready by the end of the exhibition. Fifteen works were created with the nameless audience as the author.

The imaginary exchange

The exhibition Hans-Peter Porzner - Postage Stamps in the Michael Schultz Gallery in 1997 confronted the art value system with the postage stamp value system. The tensions were resolved; It was agreed to give away the exhibited works with some very expensive stamps. Every week Michael Schultz gave away seven works to the interested public. The exhibition title was changed to Hans-Peter Porzner - The Imaginary Exchange .
