Hans Friebertshäuser

Hans Friebertshäuser (born March 21, 1929 in Weidenhausen (Gladenbach) ; † January 21, 2015 in Marburg ) was a German specialist in German and dialectologist .

Life

Hans Friebertshäuser attended elementary school in Weidenhausen from 1935 to 1939, then the Freiherr-vom-Stein-Schule (middle school) in Gladenbach until 1944 and finally the Liebig-Gymnasium in Gießen , where he passed the school leaving examination in 1948. He then studied German, history, Protestant religion and philosophy at the University of Marburg .

He obtained his doctorate in 1954 at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Marburg with a dissertation on the subject of "Dialect and regional history of northwestern Althessen" .

After graduation and state exams, he was a trainee and after the educational testing teacher ( senior teacher ) at different high schools. In 1969 he completed his habilitation with the Germanist Prof. Luise Berthold . In 1971 he was appointed professor of German philology at the University of Marburg. He was a member of the board of directors at the Research Institute for German Language and for many years headed the language department in Hesse . From 1971 to 1994 he was head of the Hesse-Nassau dictionary . Since 1970 Friebertshausen was a scientific member of the Historical Commission for Hesse .

Hans Friebertshäuser has, among other things, researched the hinterland language area (his home region), the Hinterländer Platt , and described it on maps. It became clear how the historical boundaries (official, court and parish boundaries) can also be recognized in dialect boundaries and in traditional costume boundaries . He also wrote the standard work “The woman's costume of the old Blankenstein office”.

In 2001 he published the novel "Katharine", which is set in Weidenhausen.

Hans Friebertshäuser ("Deis Hans", his house name in Weidenhausen) was an avowed dialect speaker who was fluent in his native dialect.
